In 2018 the estimates by Tanzania’s National Carbon Monitoring Centre showed an increase in the annual rate of deforestation to 469,420 hectares. This process may lead to the climatic changes so as the ESBN is planning to do the following;
- tree planting project to combat climatic changes in areas of Dodoma,Singida,Tabora and Katavi.
- Providing Environment education in areas which have forest such as Udzungwa mountains These forested mountains form part of the Eastern Arc Mountain Range which are known as the ‘Galapagos of Africa’ owing to their high degree of endemism – they cover less than 2% of the land area but include more then 50% of the country’s plant and animal species. Over 300 endemic animals and over 800 endemic plants have been found in the Eastern Arc.
